From the Driver’s Seat: 6 Suggestions for Uber in 2023

Introduction:

With over 100 million monthly active customers, Uber is one of the most widely used ridesharing services on the planet. Since its founding in 2009, the company has gone a long way, and it has revolutionised the way we travel. Uber has quickly become the go-to transportation service for many because of its convenient app and low rates. Drivers, meanwhile, have frequently voiced concerns about the company’s practices and laws.

In this article, we will discuss six suggestions for Uber in 2023 from a driver’s perspective.

  • Increase Fare Rates:

The Uber fare rates are the single biggest problem for me as a driver. Drivers spend a lot of time on the road, but their pay doesn’t reflect that. Even while Uber has raised fares in some places, it’s still not enough for drivers to make a living wage. Drivers deserve to be compensated fairly for the time, energy, and money they put in. Uber may achieve this by generally raising fare prices.

  • Better Support for Drivers:

Several Uber drivers report feeling unsupported by company leadership. They may feel helpless and isolated when things go wrong. Drivers for Uber need more help, especially in terms of security and insurance. Drivers should have a hotline they may call at any time to seek immediate assistance.

In addition, Uber needs to give drivers more details about their insurance plans so they understand what is and isn’t covered.

  • Implementing Uber Rental Car Program:

Many drivers do not own a car, and Uber should recognize that. To address this issue, Uber should implement a rental car program that allows drivers to rent a car for a specific period at an affordable rate. Without having to spend a lot of money on a vehicle, this opens up the possibility of Uber drivers who do not currently own a vehicle joining the service and making money. Drivers who already have a vehicle but need a temporary replacement could also profit from the rental car programme.

  1. Addressing Safety Concerns:

Uber drivers have legitimate safety concerns, and the firm should do more to solve them. Tightening up Uber’s background checks on both drivers and riders will deter criminals. In addition, the corporation has to give drivers more data about the places they’re travelling through, such as the prevalence of crime and the location of hazardous crossroads. Drivers need access to safety education so they can act appropriately in the event of an accident.

  • Incentivizing Repeat Customers:

Uber, like every other company, thrives on the loyalty of its clients. Those who frequently use Uber should be rewarded in some way, whether it’s with a discount on future rides or loyalty points redeemable for merchandise.

Because of this, customers would use Uber more frequently, which would increase the company’s income.

2. Driver Feedback and Input:

Uber has to listen to its drivers more and act on their suggestions. The company’s drivers are its lifeblood, therefore it’s important to listen to what they have to say. Uber needs to create a forum where drivers can voice their opinions and make recommendations, such as a driver advisory board. If the corporation did this, it could better meet the demands of its drivers and improve operations for everyone.

Conclusion:

Finally, Uber has improved greatly since its inception, but there is still a long way to go in terms of how the service treats its drivers. Uber can improve for all parties involved by raising fares, beefing up customer service, launching a rental car program, addressing safety concerns, rewarding loyal customers, and listening to driver comments. As a driver, I have high hopes that Uber would implement these recommendations and improve the service for its drivers and consumers.
