Regardless of the fact that we live in such an interconnected world, there are some numbers that you should have, keep and remember.
It is way too simple to say that we will have these on our mobile devices or on any of the other electronic devices that we have at our disposal. There are, however, certain numbers that you need to either memorize or have written down somewhere that you can access and use in an emergency – certainly in a time when you don’t have your mobile device or access to the tech that we have become reliant on for everything.
Vehicle repair and remote assistance
You never know when you’re going to have an accident or when your vehicle will break down, and as such, you need to know and have the phone numbers for the insurance or breakdown firm that you have on call. From the simple, lost car keys or keys locked in a car, where you will need a professional and prompt auto locksmith, to the more serious mechanical problems that will have you stopped on the side of the motorway, have these numbers with you all the time. Written down somewhere or memorized and available when you need them.
Safety, Security, and home emergency
You need to know who to call when there is a home emergency, and these numbers need to be shared with all in the home. The numbers for police, ambulance, fire, and electric or gas issues are the main numbers needed, and you will be surprised at how many people find themselves in an emergency with access to a phone and do not know the number and need to do a further search or make additional calls, wasting precious time. No one wants to smell gas or have a water leak and not know who to call as a matter of urgency.
Friendsand family
You may find that you take friends and family slightly for granted, but you do have them on speed dial. It is still essential to have their numbers available and saved for when you need to talk to someone urgently. These are the important people in your life, and being able to speak and communicate with them as soon as you need to will give you peace of mind – if your phone breaks and you need to borrow someone’s phone for a lift, or if you have no signal and need to use a landline, as just two examples.
Being able to phone a friend whenever you want to is a great way to remain positive and happy. You need to have the numbers of your good friends in your memory and be able to contact them whenever you need to.
There have been some major changes to significant numbers in the UK in recent years. The recent covid pandemic and the shortages of emergency staff and medical support has meant that a lot of these numbers have changed and been amended. The set of suggested numbers, as discussed herein, are those that you simply must have access to or remember. The thing to remember is that you will never know when you will need them or when you won’t have access to your electronic phone book.
