A termite is a commonly seen pest that generally attacks your house in colonies. They are small in size and feed on wood and clothes. If not treated, these can damage your home structure rapidly. Therefore, conducting Brooks pest control at the right time is vital to protect your building’s structure. There are certain signs of termites that you must look for in your home. This article highlights the top 6 signs of termites. Let’s dive in!

Signs To Conduct A Termite Inspection

1. Blisters in the wood flooring

Are you seeing blisters and buckling spots in your wood flooring? This could be a sign of termites. Termites feed on wood, which can discolor your flooring and increase the appearance of wavy surfaces. Such blisters generally appear when the flooring is quite damaged.

2. Damaged or hollowed wood

Another common sign of termites in your home is damaged or hollowed wood. Termites damage the wood from within as they eat your walls completely. You may often hear tapping and eating sounds, which weaken the wood.

3. Flying termites in the home

You may often see termites flying in your home. Swarmers are flying termites that fly out to start a new colony. If these termites fly around your property, you must call for pest control.

4. Dead termite wings

Take a closer look at your doors and windows. Do you see discarded termite wings? You may notice a huge amount of wings around the windows and doors. This means the termites no longer need these wings and are building a new colony nearby.

5. Difficulty in opening doors and windows

Termites tend to eat wood to find cellulose, causing extreme damage to your wooden doors and windows. Due to this damage, closing and opening doors becomes difficult. If you feel that the doors and windows are striking, it’s time to get a termite infestation.

6. Mud tubes

Termites dig deeper to find a sustainable food source. As a result, you may see pencil-like mud tubes at different corners, especially under the tree. This sets the perfect temperature for termites to survive.

Wrapping Up

Termites are mostly found in all houses, especially where there is wood. Termite damage repair can be expensive if left untreated for a long time. Thus, if you spot these signs, you must get a termite inspection immediately.
