Getting used to using the kitchen and learning how fun it can be to cook and create are important to a child’s healthy development.
Unfortunately, it can be hard to decide where to start besides simply asking your children to stir.
These are four meals you can make with your children, from classics to newer treats, that will let them learn new tasks while also getting to enjoy tasty food afterward.
Macaroni and Hotdogs
This classic is both delicious and easy to make. Please have your child help measure water into a cup and then pour it into a pan. You can turn on the stove and tell them about the importance of stove safety. From here, using a kid-friendly knife like a butter knife, ask that they help you slice a couple of hot dogs. You can show them how you like to cut them or allow your child to be creative and create their shapes. Cook your macaroni as you usually do, and combine it with the hot dogs for a tasty lunch!
Pinwheel Wraps
Pinwheel wraps are easy to make and allow your child to try many combinations of food. The best way to create these treats is to slice veggies like tomatoes, cucumbers, and lettuce and lay them flat on tortillas.
Thinly spread a sauce that you like, and then roll them like a taquito. Place toothpicks along the length of it to keep its shape, and then cut into one-inch pieces. This creates cute pinwheels while allowing your child to explore a project with many steps.
Mini Pizzas
We all have busy schedules, so this is a fun and quick recipe for a hot meal that you’ll still have time for after spending a day looking at Banff homes for sale. To create these easily, preheat the oven to 350, and put aluminum foil down on a baking sheet for easy cleanup. From here, with your child, lay one tortilla for the child and more for however many people are in the household. Spread out some tomato sauce, and then top with all of your favorites. This can be a great way to introduce your child to polarizing flavors like olives or garlic to ensure they try many foods.
Hotdog Rolls
Hotdog rolls are easy to make and tasty to eat! Buy a pack of crescent rolls, and unroll the sheets. Preheat your oven to 350, and spray a baking sheet with nonstick spray. With the help of your child, roll hot dogs one by one in the crescent rolls. You can add a cheese stick instead if they don’t like hot dogs, or cut a cheese stick in half to include with a hot dog! Bake for fifteen to twenty minutes and allow to cool before dipping in whatever sauce you like.
Have your kid set the timer so they can learn to count down from fifteen.
Allowing your kids to have fun and learn in the kitchen gives them a chance to broaden their tastes and understand the work that goes into cooking! Have fun with it, and teach them why it’s great to cook.
