Evolve is a health technology firm that was co-founded in the year 2020 by Anshul Kamath and Rohan Arora. Evolve’s objective is to make mental health safe, simple, and pleasurable. By providing users with interactive content that is derived from cognitive behavioral therapy, the Evolve app, together with its own user experience, assists users in enhancing their mental health (CBT). The application was selected for inclusion in “Google Play’s Best Of 2021” in India and presently has over 2,50,000 users from a variety of locations around the globe. Evolve has a significant emphasis on LGBTQ+ audiences, producing content and providing services that are catered exclusively to members of the community.
Anshul started his professional life in London, where he worked in Finance. After that, he relocated to India and began working in the startup scene there. After being given a diagnosis of a chronic autoimmune disease, he came to the realization that it was critical for him to take care of his own mental health as well as the gravity of the issue of mental health in general. Since that time, he has devoted the subsequent stage of his life to finding a solution to this issue. Through his collaboration with psychologists and various other authorities, he has organized workshops for thousands of individuals. In the year 2020, he established Evolve with the goal of elevating the status of mental health as a primary concern for millions of people all over the world.
Studies have shown over and over that members of any minority or marginalized group, including the LGBTQ+ community, are more likely to have poor mental health. This is because, among other things, people in the community face deep-seated stigmas, prejudices, bullying, and discrimination. In fact, studies from all over the world have found that people in the community are three to four times more likely to have a serious mental illness than the rest of the population.
When Evolve talked to their users, they found out that a lot of them were stuck in their homes or other places where they couldn’t be themselves or express themselves during the pandemic. They couldn’t go out and meet people or go to places where they would feel safe and accepted. This level of being alone hurts their mental health even more.
Evolve started in 2020 as an app for mental health that could be used by everyone. The need for mental health in the LGBTQ+ community was one of the biggest trends they saw, thanks to Google Play and the analytics it gave us. During Pride Month last year (June 2021), they tried out a more inclusive logo and branding on the Google Play Console. Evolve saw a big jump in conversions, and this continued even after Pride Month was over, which showed us that people in the community were naturally drawn to the app.
They needed to find the organization’s focus, and the more they talked to people in the community, the more Evolve saw how different and underserved their needs were. In the mental health market, the LGBTQ+ community is the most underserved group in terms of the number of people who want help and the number of products or apps that can help them. Even though people often look for help with their mental health, not many apps are made for this group.
It’s nice to see that both members of the community and other app users have given our app very high ratings and reviews. As of today, more than 150,000 people have downloaded the app, and users have given it a 4.7 rating. Users love that they can be vulnerable and work on themselves in a safe place without having to talk to anyone else. With Google Play, Evolve can reach people all over the world, so the audience keeps growing. They get new users every month from more than 100 different countries. India and North America are our two biggest markets.
As a company that focuses on mental health, they regarded it as their duty to assist our customers throughout the global pandemic that was taking place at the same time. During the epidemic that began in 2021, they also developed highly contextual material that was related to the problems that people encountered. Dealing with feelings of isolation, the unpredictability of income, and increasing one’s productivity while working electronically are few examples of these challenges. Users are encouraged to expose themselves and discuss their innermost ideas and emotions while using the Evolve app, which plays a significant role in the overall user experience. It was interesting to note that in 2021, users were most interested in addressing their relationship requirements and stress due to the fact that they were either spending too much or not enough time with their loved ones.
You can download the app from Play Store & App Store for free.
