Do you own a construction business or plan on contracting your work out? If so, you’re going to want to take a serious look at the construction site safety protocols you have in place.

According to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 5,333 workers died while on the job in 2019. In a perfect world, that number would be zero.

To help you keep everyone safe, we’ve put together this guide. By the time you finish reading, you’ll know exactly which equipment your workers will need to have.

Let’s take a look at what you’ll need to ensure health and safety in construction.

Face Protection

Many construction accidents lead to eye injuries. Because of that, you’ll always want to make face protection a priority.

Make sure all workers have face shields or safety glasses whenever they do something that could lead to a foreign substance entering the eye. This includes tasks like grinding, welding, and nailing.

Workers working on electrical systems should also have the tools necessary to protect their faces.

Hand Protection

Gloves are a must for all construction workers. Make sure to provide them with the right pair for the job, however. Welding gloves are different than those used by workers pouring concrete.

You’ll also want to ensure that the gloves are the right size. Gloves that are too large can full off. Make sure that they’re tight and snug.

If the gloves don’t allow much movement, consider investing in post construction cleaning services. Doing so keeps your employees from having to worry about massive cleanup operations.

Head Protection

Head injuries are common at construction sites, and unfortunately, they’re also some of the deadliest injuries.

If there is ever the chance of an object falling from above, make sure that all workers wear hardhats. The same goes for when they have the chance of hitting their head on something.

Hardhats are durable but don’t forget to check their condition before handing them out.

Foot Protection

Foot injuries are another common type of injury. To keep your workers safe, provide them with slip-resistant boots or shoes. You’ll also want them to have puncture-resistant soles.

If your workers interact with heavy objects, ensure that they have safety toe footwear. This will help keep their toes from getting crushed if something falls on top of them.

Construction Site Safety Made Easy

You can have the best safety plan in the industry, but if you don’t have the right construction safety tools on hand, it’ll all be for nothing. Use this checklist to help you out.

By following this construction site safety checklist and adding the tools mentioned to your arsenal, you’ll be able to ensure that all your workers stay safe while on the job.
