The art of sun protection with makeup

You glam up yourself with the natural makeup look, which is a misnomer as trying to make it look as if you woke up like this takes more makeup and effort than a red-carpet look does. Skin tint is an alternative to tinted moisturizer, providing light coverage that evens out your complexion and covers minor blemishes while remaining light and airy – something no tinted moisturizer could possibly do! They’re designed not to clog pores either!

However, alongside looking radiant, you also want to protect your skin. This is where the actual conundrum starts; you want your cake, and you want to eat it too. You want the protection offered by sunscreen, but you do not want the pasty white look it brings.

Reapplying sunscreen over makeup carries an even bigger issue. When you slather the potent white paste on, your makeup, for the lack of a better word, gets ruined. It forms such a thick layer, that the sun-kissed look that you were trying to go for turns into anything but.

However, putting on sunscreen is just as important. It protects the skin against the damage done by radiation, which includes wrinkles, fines lines, etc. The hyperpigmentation that has you running for the Best Skin Specialist in Lahore is also caused due to sun exposure. It also increases the risk of skin cancer as well.

The good news is, we have a game plan for to reconcile your two problems!

Starting right

Before applying your makeup, you need to first apply a solid layer of sunscreen. Make sure to opt for a broad-spectrum sunscreen and with an SPF of more than 30.

You need to be careful with its application; get to all nook and crannies. Often, the hairline and sides of the face are neglected, so, be sure to catch all the parts of the face.

The amount of sunscreen you apply is contingent on the type of sunscreen being applied. Similarly, the order of application of moisturizer and sunscreen is also dependent on the type of sunscreen you are using; chemical sunscreens are to be applied before the moisturizer, but the physical ones go after moisturizer, followed by makeup.

Moisturizer with SPF

You can also use a moisturizer with SPF, especially during overcast days. You can also pack a punch against the Sun by using sunscreen with moisturizer. It helps in reinforcing the protection.

If you can find a tinted moisturizer with SPF, you do not have to bother with foundation, especially during the day, when putting on heavy makeup is not necessary. However, it is important that the amount of product applied be sufficient, as otherwise your protection against the sun will not be sufficient.

You can then go on to apply your makeup, as you normally would.

Pack the powder

While creams call for smudging the makeup, as you rub them to absorb into the skin, the powder is easier to glide on without messing up the makeup. Moreover, it also helps it absorbing excess oils, which is better for those with oily skin.

Furthermore, facial powder with sunscreen also tends to be water resistant, so has a longer and longer life. It also blends into the skin, so does not look odd, unlike some cream formulations.

Set the SPF

Setting sprays helps the makeup stay in place, which is good, as it does not allow the reapplication of sunscreen to smudge your makeup. Furthermore, setting spray with SPF not only helps in added protection, but they are also helps in keeping makeup in place.

They also are not the white pasty formula, but instead are fine mist that settles well over the skin. Some brands also offer formulas with hyaluronic acid that helps in hydrating the skin. It then prevents the skin from drying out after exposure to sun.

Encore

You need to redo your SPF after every two hours for complete protection, otherwise, sun associated problems that have you running for the Skin specialist in Karachi will persist. For retouching your liquid and cream sunscreen without smudging your makeup, you can blot on your sunscreen using a sponge.
