Cricket Australia (CA) has announced the fixture for the 12th season of Australia’s premier T20 competition – the Big Bash League (BBL). The BBL season will begin on Tuesday, 13 December 2022, with the Melbourne Stars hosting the Melbourne Renegades at the MCG. This is followed by the Sydney Thunder taking on the Sydney Sixers at Spotless Stadium.

The Big Bash League replaced the previous competition, the KFC Twenty20 Big Bash, and featured eight city-based franchises instead of the six state teams which had competed previously. Each team is captained by a former Test cricketer and plays each other in a double round-robin format, with each team playing every other team twice. At the end of the regular season, the top four teams compete in a finals series, with the two top-ranked teams contesting the final.
