Indian Premier League 2020 in UAE
The Indian Premier League is upon us and the stage is set for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to host the 2020 tournament. It will be very different without the home fans in the stadia and the huge electric atmosphere which usually is in place.
The 60 game tournament will now be played this year in UAE where it will be a totally different experience for players. However, given the top T20 players will be on show and the homegrown Indian talent are set to shine, we can still expect some big scores, plenty of 4’s an 6’s and great finishes to the matches.
Mumbai Indians are the favourites with Bovada to win the tournament having won last year and been the most successful team since the IPL was started. They seem to know how to win when it comes to the final and they get the job done when the maximum pressure is on.
Top Fantasy Players
Looking at the top fantasy player in the Indian Premier League, you need to take a look at the key stats for the 2019 tournament as it’s likely these players will once again shine. The top batsman was David Warner from Sunrisers Hyderabad who scored 692 runs from 12 matches and his style is to score quickly and will once again this year be one of the main men to watch out for. He likes to hit the boundary as often as possible and once in his stride, there is no one better to pile on the runs.
Quinton de Kock was the top scorer for the champions Mumbai Indians and scored 529 from 16 matches and he will relish having won the title as his team look to defend their title and play another 16 matches in this year’s tournament. Quinton de Kock is another talent who gets his eye in early and strikes the ball very well.
Local Indian talent Lokesh Rahul plays for Kings Pubjab and was the 2nd highest run-scorer last year. His experience will count wonders as he looks to go one better this year and top the charts.
He scored 593 runs from 14 matches with a strike rate of over 100. This exciting young talent is one to look out for and definitely have in your fantasy team.
When it comes to individual high scores then Jonny Bairstow topped the charts in 2019 with 114 runs from Sunrisers Hyderabad. It will be interesting to see if that score will be beaten this upcoming campaign in the UAE.
The most consistent batsman unsurprisingly was David Warner who scored 9 50’s in 2019 IPL which is a real high standard. Should anyone match this in 2020 then their fantasy score will be very high
Top Bowlers in IPL
Now we turn the attention to the best bowlers in the IPL and it was Imran Tahir who topped the charts which is great news for the tournament that local talent was top of the charts. Tahir took 26 wickets in the 2019 tournament and will be looking to get close to that total this campaign and then he could well help Chennai Super Kings win the title back.
South African bowler Kagiso Rabada took 25 wickets last year in the IPL and this is a key benchmark for all players this year that this total will mean the player is one of the highest wicket-takers and therefore a top fantasy player.
With the wickets going to be different versus the ones in India, it will be interesting to see in the early matches how the pitches play as to whether we will see a lot of high scores so the batsman will be scoring well or the wickets will be bowler-friendly, so low scores will be on the agenda.
Looking at the tournament, Bovada has the Mumbai Indians as clear favorites and with plenty of top talent in the squad, this is a key reason behind them being the likely winners. Chennai Super Kings are close behind and will be looking to regain the title.
