Babies and children love to be outside, there is so much to see and do, and unfortunately, stick in their mouths! But while they are getting fresh air, exercise and learning it is important that you make sure they are protected from the sun as they play. Whether you are heading to the beach to build sandcastles, or check out rock pools, or in the garden or the local park, they need Goldie & Ace sun hats and proper sunscreen application. The main danger to children when they are outside is not stranger danger it is overheating and sunburn, dehydration and exhaustion. Here are some times on how you can better protect your baby from the sun.
More awareness does not equal better protection
While more people are aware of how important it is to protect themselves and their children from the sun, a very large percentage of them still fail to properly do so. Sometimes it is from not applying enough of the We are feel good inc sunscreen. A lot of people do not put enough on when they use sunscreen, plus adult skin is thicker than children’s so they need more anyway. There is also the issue of getting them covered, while babies are easier to hold down, toddlers and children do not want to waste time and stand around getting covered in gunky creams.
Choose the right suncream
Sometimes the problem is not choosing a lotion, spray or cream that has an SPF that is high enough. Children should be covered in We Are Feel Good INC sunscreen of at least factor 30 or higher. It should be applied on every part of the body that is exposed to the sun and especially take care around the ears, nose, head and neck areas. Ideally, you put it on before you head out giving it 20 to 30 minutes to soak in and then reapply every 2 hours or every 1 hour if they are in the water.
Choose their clothing carefully
When you are getting your baby or child dressed for heading outside you should choose clothing that is loose fitting and comfortable. Look at fabrics that help prevent the sun from getting to the skin and always put them in a sun hat of some kind as you find here at Goldie & Ace. Also, consider getting them UV protection sunglasses when they are old enough to wear them.
Make sure to consider the time of day
When you are out, try to encourage more of the action to take place in a shaded area. Under a large umbrella, tree or such. Just because it is sunny does not mean they only can head outside, it is okay to sometimes do something indoors, especially when it is very hot. You might also consider staying in during the hottest times of the day, between 11 and 2. If you have something happening that means you have to head out then again find the shade or take something with you to create some shade for your baby.
