Weight loss is not an overnight process. It is a long journey that demands lifestyle changes and a determined commitment to these changes. The changes are related to your diet, your exercise pattern, and your body’s other vital stats.

Usually, weight loss can be achieved through these slight changes over a prolonged period of time but even after these changes if you are not able to lose weight then you may opt for weight loss surgery Warwick.

Bariatric surgery affects both the physical and mental health of a person. So it is better to be prepared for bariatric surgery. For example, the entire process of bariatric surgery in Thailand takes somewhere around six to nine months to complete. It includes detailed steps from consultation to the actual surgery.

This step by step guide will help you with your bariatric surgery:

1. Attend a weight loss seminar to get to know the journey and the process better

Get in touch with your bariatric surgeon and schedule a seminar visit with him or her. Even the best bariatric surgeon in India would recommend you the same. In the seminar, you will get to learn about the procedure of bariatric surgery and how it will affect your body. You will also get to know about the changes that you should anticipate after the surgery regarding your body. There are several online seminars that you can take part in to get familiar with the process in a better way. There are also lots of online videos that explain in detail about the whole weight loss journey and the effects of bariatric surgery.

  1. Build healthy eating habits and a regular exercise routine

You should not rely on surgery alone. Bariatric surgery will surely help you lose weight but how you carry yourself post your surgery is a whole nother story. You should develop healthy habits because more than the surgery these habits will help you in your journey of weight loss. Build an eating plan and stick to it. Get in touch with a certified dietician who would help you to curate the perfect diet plan for you. Let the dietician know about your allergies and food preferences, they will help you accordingly. Make sure to consult your dietician every three to six months and constantly make changes to your diet plan.

  1. Assess yourself

Before you head for a bariatric surgery ask yourself how ready are you for the lifestyle changes that would come post the surgery. You can make a list of anticipated changes after consulting your surgeon. Then start by ticking off the changes you feel most comfortable with. At the end of the list, if you think that you can manage the surgery and the changes, you are good to go. It is also advisable to talk to a psychologist during your weight loss procedure. This will ensure that you are mentally ready to move forward with the procedure.

  1. Pre-operational testing

Before the surgery takes place you may need to undergo several tests. These tests are recommended by looking at your medical history. The common tests include:

  • Cardiology testing
  • A psychiatrist or physician approval
  • Gastrointestinal evaluation
  • Sleep apnea evaluation

As the surgery reduces the body weight your body may take its time to adapt to the changes. Make sure that you are not rushing things as it may lead to further complications. Your test reports will be evaluated by the surgeon and a committee of other doctors. If you get clearance then you may need to contact your insurance company to check if they cover bariatric surgery or not under your insurance plan.
