The meaning of life is happiness, and we each attain it differently. For many travel is experiencing life from different angles. Due to our evolution, we adapt to new things quickly, absorbing them into our internal database for later use.
When you travel, take time to enjoy the new things you discover in life. Slow down and feel the mesh of a new neighbourhood. Explore and allow yourself to be new and unfamiliar. The following are some ideas for a trip to Darwin.
Where in Darwin should you stay? There are several interesting areas in this somewhat small city.
- City Centre – With plenty of access to shopping, restaurants, and bars; it is a very popular area. The traffic isn’t high making it smoother to get around in than most city centres. If you want a fun night, look here for holiday apartments in Darwin CBD
- Waterfront – Not far from the city centre and within walking distance you can find the waterfront. The Darwin Lagoon is here, as well as, the Wave Pool. “Precinct” is a small area of bars and eateries.
- Cullen Bay – Less than 10 minutes from the city centre and accessible by bus; Cullen Bay provides many options with ocean views and a sprinkling of local restaurants.
- Outer Suburbs Get out of town. Generally quieter and worth the longer drive locate these areas;
- Parap has one of Darwin’s longest-running markets. It is a popular breakfast and snack stop.
- Larrakeyah is another mostly residential suburb hosting high-rise developments and nearly 360-degree ocean views.
- Palmerston will require a 20km drive to reach and is the 2nd largest city in the territory. Diverse, vibrant, and fast-growing it is a lively regional hub.
Spend a night or two in different locations, and see these sites;
- The Mindi Beach Casino, and the Sunset Market. Eat, Drink, Play.
- Have a relaxing stroll through the 42-hectare George Brown Botanical Gardens.
- Leanyer Recreational Park has waterslides and swimming pools. It’s free.
- Charles Darwin National Park is significant for biodiversity. It’s free as well.
We have covered city locations and sites. Now we can talk about property types and amenities. In the city centre or waterfront areas, the primary holiday rental property is; an apartment or condominium. Further out of town, there are larger houses and lower prices. What is your trip about? Party or privacy? Interaction with more people or more nature?
No matter how long your stay you want good wifi, respectful staff, and cleanliness is always important. The importance of the amenities in your residence will fluctuate depending on your trip. If you are planning a beach vacation, the daytime view from your rental is not important. When on a relaxing or spa vacation you will book accordingly to have access to the best included amenity possible.
Darwin is enjoyable for many people. The vacancy rate of 2.6% is testament to that. Be smart and plan. A three-day trip will give you a sample of Darwin. A week would be better to enjoy more of the Northern Territory and the natural history within. Happy trails.
