Why generosity is important for a Leader?

“Leadership is the capacity to translate vision into reality,” said¬†Warren Bennis, an American scholar, organizational consultant and author, widely regarded as a pioneer of the contemporary field of Leadership studies.

If you think generosity is just about a set of actions or some occasional morale booster or providing charity donations then you are wrong. Generosity is the way of being and how you live your life. Generosity is important for a leader as it allows you to understand others’ feelings and let them make their own decisions freely.

One example is Thomas Kane a Chicago-based financial executive, currently working as Managing director at Merrill Private Wealth Management. Outside of work, Thomas Kane Merrill Lynch donates most of his time in supporting various charitable organizations and also volunteers in different charity events to help people in need.

Here is why generosity is important for a Leader:

Generosity with time:

Generous leaders will make sure to take some time and effort to listen to their employee’s issues and thoughts. This will make the employees feel valued in the organization and they will work hard to provide effective work results. When a leader connects with their employees then it will help them to understand the strengths and weaknesses of their employees and they are well aware of how to use those strengths for positive work results in the company.

Generosity with information:

A generous leader will make sure to provide clear and transparent information to their employees so that they can understand what their work is and how to do that work. They will offer their employees to join company meetings and share their ideas and thoughts for the company’s important decision-making. This will allow the employees to gain better confidence and they will be able to understand the company’s mission much better.

Generosity with expertise:

A true leader has already gained great years of experience and they know how to tackle or overcome any sudden issues or changes that may occur in the future. When the employees face problems in their work then a good leader will be generous to share their expertise with their people so that they will be able to learn new skills to find different ways to overcome such problems. A successful leader knows how to create loyal followers and a strong, resilient team.

Generosity with-profits:

Generosity will never be completed without the mentioning of money. As every new individual will be concerned for their work, developing new skills, and job satisfaction, but still money plays a crucial role in making employees happy and satisfied at the workplace.

Well, a good leader knows how to provide appreciation and recognition to their employees for their hard work and they will boost their employee’s morale by providing salary bonuses or rewards to make them feel valued in the organization.
