Being a creative person can be incredibly rewarding. You tend to see the world from a positive, exciting perspective and enjoy living in your abundant imagination – constantly fizzing with new ideas or creative projects.

However, there is a downside to being creative, and that is the fact that it is difficult to make any money from it. Of course, at this point, you’ll probably argue that every multi-millionaire actor, musician, artist or fashion designer is highly creative, and that’s true.Unfortunately, for every successful artist, there are a hundred failures who struggle to find paid work – let alone make a comfortable living from their creativity.

This is the eternal dichotomy of creativity. When it is honed, channeled, and discovered, it is an incredible gift that can inspire generations of people and earn you an abundance of money. But when it is undiscovered, unfulfilled, and spread thin across countless projects, it can leave you penniless, frustrated, and without direction in your life.

Thankfully, if you are afraid of falling into the latter category, don’t fret. There are plenty of accessible career paths that allow you to express the full bandwidth of your creativity. Here are three noteworthy examples:

  • Become a tattoo artist
  • Become a social media influencer
  • Start a side hustle

Become a tattoo artist

If you are a lover of art, creative expression, and making a genuine and tangible impact with your work, then becoming a tattoo artist is one of the most underrated career paths you can take.

Tattoo artistry has a mixed reputation, with lovers of tattoos seeing it as an incredible form of art and pessimists doubting its credentials. While giving someone a tattoo is not the same as painting a timeless portrait, it has more similarities than you would think. If you take your work seriously, then you have the opportunity to ‘paint’ a design onto someone’s body that will be there for the rest of their lives.

This level of personal impact is almost unrivaled in the creative world unless you become a world-famous figure.Of course, if you are going to become a tattoo artist, then you will need to buy the necessary equipment, such as a tattoo machine, amongother items.

Become a social media influencer

Another left-field way to monetise your creativity is to become a social media influencer. While dyed-in-the-wool artists might roll their eyes at the prospect of live-streaming every aspect of their lives, the truth is that crafting an online presence takes an enormous amount of creativity.

Depending on your niche and the platform you use to share content, you will need to craft photos and videos, edit them, create compelling copy, and devise fresh ways to share your story with the world. In other words, be incredibly creative. What’s more, the money can be eye-watering if you are successful – and there are untold job opportunities that can be generated off the back of it.

Start a side hustle

Lastly, you could start a creative side hustle. If you currently hold down a day job that fails to satisfy your creative urges, then starting a more creative project on the side makes sense.

Not only does this ensure that you have enough money to sustain you while you indulge in your creativity, but there is less pressure for it to take off as a career path in the short term. This means you can take on the projects that you want to do, rather than take anything because it is paid work.
