Blurry vision isn’t always an emergency.

If it’s constant, you may simply need glasses for near or far-sightedness. However, there are cases where sudden blurry vision is a sign of a larger health problem.

If you have blurry vision because of a medical procedure, you may be entitled to compensation. Read on to find out some common causes of blurred vision.

  1. Eye Strain Or Migraine

When you look at something for a while without taking a break, you can strain your eyes. Driving in poor or dark conditions and reading are two common ways to encounter eye strain. Other ways include staring at a phone, computer screen, or other electronic devices for too long.

Similarly, blurry eyes could be signs of an oncoming migraine. If you’re experiencing this symptom, it is important to avoid loud sounds and harsh lights. Consider resting your eyes to treat migraines and eye strain.

  1. Preeclampsia

Preeclampsia is a condition that affects pregnant people. It can create blurry eyes, eye spots, or seeing flashing lights. This condition can have serious effects on the person and the baby.

Other signs of preeclampsia include:

  • rapid weight gain
  • high blood pressure
  • anxiety
  • confusion
  • sudden nausea after the first trimester
  • headaches
  1. Stroke

If you’re having a stroke in your eye, you may find that you have one eye blurry. If you can’t see clearly in both eyes, that could be a sign of a stroke in part of your brain.

Either way, you won’t feel any pain associated with your loss of vision.

You might, however, experience other stroke symptoms such as:

  • slurred speech
  • one weak side of your body
  • no balance
  • dizziness
  1. Diabetic Retinopathy

If you have diabetes, you may be at risk of diabetic eye disease. As time passes, high blood sugar affects the light-sensing part of your eye (your retina). This eye disease can cause blood vessels in your retina to grow, bleeding, or swelling.

If you believe you have diabetic retinopathy, it’s best to get checked out by a doctor as early as possible.

  1. Taxotere

Taxotere is a drug often used during chemotherapy for cancer treatment. It works by slowing the growth of cancer cells. Unfortunately, one potential side effect of the drug is canalicular stenosis.

Canalicular stenosis is an eye condition that may affect your ability to read, drive, or wear makeup. Some of the symptoms are eyelid swelling, dry eyes, light sensitivity, clouded vision, and watery eyes.

If you have experienced this irreversible side effect, law firm Hotze Runkle can help you get justice.

If You Have Any of These Causes of Blurred Vision Get Help
